Beginning October 15, 2020 recycling trailers are available with single stream recycling implementedGlass is not accepted at this time.

Michigamme Township participates in a single stream recycling program with Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority (MCSWMA).  The Township is providing 2 trailers on the parking lot across from the DPW garage on Barnum Street in the village. As of January 1, 2018 MCSWMA no longer accepts GLASS, please do NOT leave glass in the trailer.  Glass will need to be included in your regular garbage.  Trailers are open 24 hours, 7 days a week.  The single stream recycling program started in October 2020 with all items able to be co-mingled in the trailers.


RIGIDS (PLASTIC/METAL): Items may be co-mingled.
    SOLID PLASTIC: Condiment bottles:  ketchup and mustard bottles, sour cream, frosting and butter tubs, salad dressing and syrup bottles, etc.
        Bathroom accessory bottles: shampoo, body wash and hand soap bottles, lotion bottles, plastic cosmetics tubes, etc.
        Cleaning supplies:  spray bottles, dish and laundry soap bottles, fabric softener bottles, windshield washer jugs, empty aerosol cans, etc.
        Non-returnable plastic containers: sports drink, juice, milk, or water bottles, saline solution bottles, baby wipe containers, etc.
    METAL: soup, pet food, coffee, etc.

    OFFICE: Cardboard boxes, sticky notes, manila envelopes, white and colored paper, non-wax paper cups, file folders, business cards.
    HOUSEHOLD: Newspapers and inserts, cardboard, paperback and hardcover books, magazines, junk mail, pizza boxes, paper board (cereal, shoe, and food boxes), envelopes, shredded paper, telephone books, brown paper bags, receipts, cardboard egg cartons, toilet paper and paper towel rolls, and non-wax paper plates. 
All recycle items must be clean (rinsed out), dry, and empty.

    GLASS, bubble wrap, plastic bags, baggies, and plastic wrap, any wrapper with foil, chip bags, bread bags, photographs, photo paper, wax-coated items, pet food bags, styrofoam items,
     Christmas lights, medical supplies, garden hoses, rubber, tires, box fans, vacuum cleaners, food, plastic fence, electronic waste, TVs, VCRs or DVD players, and computers and Sharps.

Marquette County Sharps Disposal Sites:  This program allows you to bring your used syringes and other sharps to the following locations:

    Every ton of disposables the Michigamme Township recycles is a ton of waste Michigamme Township does not have to pay for as trash at the Marquette County Landfill.
