Garbage Pick-up

Due to the Governor's orders to shelter in place and the COVID-19 safety precautions by the CDC, and to safeguard your DPW workers and the community, the Township Board has decided to temporarily discontinue the curbside pickup of garbage.  The Township garbage truck will be parked outside at the Community Building parking lot beginning Monday, March 30 and will continue on a daily basis from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays until further notice.

On Wednesdays the garbage truck will be parked by the intersection of Blue Road and Holli Blue Road from 8 am till noon.

You may place your garbage in the truck at any time during these hours and days.

Thank your for your continued cooperation to protect each other.  Please call the Township office if you have questions or are unable to comply with this change.  This change notice will be published in the paper and at the normal community sites.

TV6 and local radio stations are called to announce any delays due to unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather.  Every effort will be made to post a timely notice on this website of such delays.

Additional Information for Normal Garbage Collection:
We will begin normal Monday garbage collection when we are no longer sheltering in place.  If a holiday falls on a Monday (Memorial Day and Labor Day) the garbage collection will be moved to Tuesday of the same week.  If we have a major storm on Saturday or Sunday we may have to delay garbage collection until roads are cleared.
Michigamme Township requests that your garbage be put out by 6:00 AM for pick up.  Please put all garbage in tied bags in a covered garbage container.  Please note that garbage pick up is for household trash only.  Glass cannot be recycled any longer, please dispose of glass items in your household trash until further notice.
Any questions or concerns can be directed to Michigamme Township at 906-323-6608.
Thank you!
